Requesting a change
You never open a page builder or log into a CMS. You ask for a change in plain words, and Site Star makes it. Here is where to send a request and how to follow it.
These three all reach the same Site Star agent, and it does the same thing whichever you pick. Use whatever's in reach.
- Site Star dashboardThe message box on My Site, once you're signed in.
- TextText your site's number from a phone it knows. Photos come through.
- EmailEmail your site's address. Attachments come through.
- Your own AI assistant Different setup, same result. Connect Claude or another assistant to your site once, then ask it from the chat you already use, and it acts on your site for you. Set it up
Type your request in plain words
Describe what you want the way you would say it to a person. There is no format to follow.
Examples
- "Change our hours to open at 8am on Saturdays."
- "Swap the photo on the home page for the new one I'm attaching."
- "Add a page for our new gutter cleaning service."
- "Our phone number changed. Please update it everywhere on the site."
How fast it happens
Most changes are made within minutes. Larger ones land the same day.
Send it
By text or email, just send it. It lands in the same place as a request sent from the dashboard, and Site Star replies on the channel you used.
In the Site Star dashboard
On My Site, every request starts in the request box.
Sign in at sitestar.io and open My Site. That's where you send and track requests.
On My Site, look for the box that reads "Ask a question, request a change, share an idea…". Every request starts here.
Sent
Click Send. That is all you need to do. Your request appears in your activity right away.
Add a photo or your logo
By text, send them as picture messages. By email, attach them.
In the Site Star dashboard
To attach an image
- Click Attach and choose your images, or
- Drag them straight onto the box.
- They appear as thumbnails under your message before you send.
Need more room?
The box has a formatting toolbar built in. Click Expand to grow it in place (it becomes Collapse), or Focus for a distraction-free, full-screen editor.
Follow it in your activity
Ask Site Star
Site Star answers with what's waiting on you first, then what's in progress.
Or do it yourself in the Site Star dashboard
Your activity on My Site is a timeline of everything happening with your site, newest first. Each entry is labeled by type on the left, Task, Update, Message, or Idea, with the time, and changes carry a status you can watch.
Filtering the timeline
Switch between Highlights and Everything, and filter by All types, Tasks, Messages, or Ideas.
What each status means
- Requested Site Star has your request.
- In progress The change is being made.
- Ready for review It is ready for you to look at before it goes live.
- Completed The change is done.
- Live The change is live on your site.
- Canceled The request was stopped.
If a request shows Needs attention, open it. Site Star needs something from you to keep going.
Open a request for details
Ask Site Star
Or do it yourself in the Site Star dashboard
Click any request to open it. From there you can:
- See its current status and full details.
- Follow the Updates thread as work progresses.
- Reply if Site Star asks you a question.
- Cancel it if you no longer need it: click Cancel task and confirm. This works while it's still in progress; once a change is live, you'd just ask for a new one to change it back.
Open at 8am on Saturdays instead of 9am.
Sending from anywhere
As you scroll down My Site, a compact message bar stays docked at the bottom, so you can send a request without scrolling back up. Type in the "Message Site Star…" bar and press Enter to send.
Prefer email or text?
Every site has its own email address and text number. Both are on the Site contacts card in Settings under Site basics, or just ask: "What's your email address?"
- Email or text your request to your site.
- It lands in the same place as the requests you send from the box.
- Use whichever is easier in the moment.
You can always email from your own address. To let someone else, like a colleague, send requests in by email or text, give them permission in notifications.
What happens next
When a change is ready for you to see before it goes live, its status turns to Ready for review. See reviewing and approving a change for what happens next.
